ADVON™ is a new employment program created by the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce to connect military spouses with local employment.
What Does ADVON Mean?
Military spouses face significant challenges when relocating to a new area, including household moving responsibilities, tight timelines, unforeseen expenses, and adapting to new schools, friends, and activities. Many military families depend on a secondary source of income, and it's crucial for military spouses to secure employment in their new community promptly. However, connecting with local employers eager to hire military spouses can be a time-consuming and disheartening endeavor and that’s where ADVON can help. When military organizations deploy to new locations, they send an Advanced Echelon (ADVON) team ahead to do the preparatory work needed to ensure the organization “hits the ground running” and is effective as quickly as possible. The Montgomery Chamber wants to partner with its members to form an ADVON team for newly arriving military spouses so they can “hit the ground running” and find that perfect job quickly.
How It Works for Partner Businesses
The ADVON™ program is available to all members of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce that express support of and commit to hiring military spouses.
Chamber Members connect directly with Scott Rizer and the ADVON™ program to discuss what it means to be military-friendly, learn best practices for hiring military spouses, and resolve any questions about the program and their participation in it.
Once approved, each ADVON™ partner's logo is added to the ADVON™ page of the Chamber's website with a link to their current job listings.

How It Works for Military-Connected Spouses
Military Spouses can find a variety of employment options on the ADVON™ partners page: https://www.montgomerychamber.com/advon-partners. This is a small but quickly growing list of companies that seek to employ military spouses and are ready to support you in an effort to fulfill your employment potential while living in Alabama.
A few industries represented currently include higher education, finance, and healthcare. The page links go directly to each company’s open position listings, where you can contact HR representatives and submit your application and resume.
