Military Spouses
Military Spouse Resources

Welcome to our Military Spouses page! I am your Alabama Military Family Liaison, Jennifer Holliday. I’m so glad you’re here and look forward to connecting with you.
You can reach out anytime by email or join our Alabama Military Spouse Mentorship-HUB (AL-HUB) powered by the Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN). See below for details.
The Alabama Heroes Welcome Initiative website was designed by military spouses for military spouses, service members, and their families as a one-stop site where you can find resources across the nation, state, and local community. These resources have been vetted and selected specifically to support you and your family as you move into Alabama and during your time with us, no matter how long we get to call you our neighbors. Within this space, our Military Spouses page serves as a hub for military spouse-specific resources and news.
Alabama strives to be the most military-ready state in the nation. While much work has been done, we know there are still gaps to be filled. We work every day to expand opportunities that support our military-connected families and communities.
The Military Family Liaison serves as a bridge to help fill gaps and reduce roadblocks often faced by military families during a PCS (permanent change of station) move. If you have questions, ideas, or resources to share, be sure to email me and join us in the AL-HUB.
Alabama Military Spouse HUB (AL-HUB)

Alabama provides the first Statewide communication and mentorship experience, powered by the Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN), to all military-connected spouses, in any service component, moving to and living in our state. This collaborative project between MSAN and the Alabama Military Stability Foundation (ALMSF) is called the Alabama Military Spouse Mentorship-HUB (AL-HUB).
The AL-HUB brings MSAN’s Global HUB to the state and local level and offers direct connectivity with MSAN’s mentors and advocates, as well as the Alabama Military Family Liaison and Military Spouse Advisory Council.
We are all here to welcome you to Alabama and your local community and help you through challenges during your transition into or across the state. We hope you enjoy your time here as our neighbors and friends.
Just a few of the benefits offered in the AL-HUB include:
- Local and statewide networking
- Resource discovery
- Access to mental health allies and peer-to-peer mentors
- Free mental health ally certification
- Free and growing catalogue of courses on quality of life topics
AL-HUB Access Point Process

Alabama Professional Licenses

Alabama works for military spouses! The Military Family Jobs Opportunity Act of 2018 requires most occupational licensure boards* to provide temporary or permanent licenses to military spouses transferring to the State of Alabama. It also requires the boards to waive any initial licensing fees.
The Alabama State Supreme Court created a Bar Admissions rule in 2020, with unanimous approval, to exempt military spouses from the current reciprocity rule. This allows spouses of military members to “be eligible for admission to the Alabama State Bar by showing admission in another jurisdiction and limited practice experience.” Read more about the rule here: Military Spouse Exception
We continue to join interstate compacts during each state legislative session. As of 2025, Alabama participates in:
Visit our Military Spouse Licensure Boards page for links to these compacts and point of contact information for Alabama’s 48 licensing boards.
We are also working collaboratively at the national level with other Military Spouse and Family Liaisons. Find the first project published jointly by Alabama, Virginia, and Washington State here: Download the Military Spouse License Portability Checklist.
